Sustainable Geo was founded to address the critical environmental challenges of the 21st century, with a focus on groundwater and climate resilience. Groundwater, as a vital resource for mining, industry, agriculture, and communities, faces growing threats from overuse, contamination, and climate change. At the same time, shifting climate patterns demand innovative strategies to adapt and build resilience in water management and beyond. The mission is to develop science-driven, practical solutions that ensure sustainable water use and environmental stability for future generations.
Leveraging dual expertise as a licensed engineering as well as management consultant, Sustainable Geo bridges the technical and strategic dimensions of environmental challenges. Our integrated approach combines hydrogeological assessments, aquifer recharge design, contamination mitigation, and sustainable resource planning with strategic business advisory, risk management, and climate adaptation planning. This systemic perspective ensures comprehensive solutions that address the intricate links between subsurface water resources, climate change impacts, and organizational resilience.
Our services are tailored to the unique local conditions and strategic goals of each client, delivering pragmatic, sustainable solutions that align environmental compliance with operational and business priorities.
This was the time when I first did my A-levels in autodidact and studied for my Masters in Geology at Vienna University. To finance my studies I did three internships at OMV (plus Proterra) and worked part-time for an engineering company, doing geophysical fieldwork all over Europe.
Getting into environmental technology and joining Proterra's management buyout TERRA Enviromental Technology. To not get bored (sic !) from long hours in Romania et al. I did my PhD in my sparetime while independently financing it (thanks to OMV - again) and went on scientific expedition to the Tien-Shan. Takeaway: if you really believe in something, there's always somebody who will support you - recognising your determination.
After a brief year with the geological survey in Bavaria and getting into touch with geothermal energy I was invited to join the renowned Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) with a postdoc stipend from the Norwegian Research Council and go to Norway for a year. I stayed eight...
While working at NGI with great projects in a highly innovative environment, another opportunity came up in 2018 to grow - starting my own groundwater group at Multiconsult. Additionally I went to business school to do a Masters in Business & Management at BI Oslo and IFPEN Paris. Returned 2021 to Austria, and again: another opportunity, looking into sustainability consulting at AFRY Austria.
After serving as interim managing director for the Austrian subsidiary of an engineering firm, it was time for a new chapter. Having worked on four continents with all kind of project sizes and getting to know several sociocultural settings, organisations and management styles I am prepared to synthesise what I have observed and learned for my own value proposition. To be continued...
